in this era, neoplatism was a huge thing in art, but so was christianity. before Leonardo’s David statue, the two ideas never mixed in art. but with the David, Leo brings both the Greco-Roman world view and the Christian world view into one piece of art. a christian story of David, but almost completely based off the Doryaphorus by Polyclitus.
