Peritonitis: (D)
Inflammation of the lining of the abdomen (peritoneum) that can indicate a hole in the GI tract or Appendicitis.
- Context: pain when pt jumps
Peritoneal signs: (E)
Possible D: Peritonitis
- Severe abd. pain worse w/ movement, n, v, f, abd. sw, fluid in abd., no bowel movements, oliguria, thirst, dyspnea, or hypotension/shock
Dyspnea: (E/D)
Difficulty breathing/SOB/uncomfortable respiration. Common with asthma, COPD, panic attacks, or PEs.
Oliguria: (E/D)
Decreased urine output. Common with urethral stricter, sepsis, and dehydration.
Hypotension: (D)
Low blood pressure. 90/60 mmHg. Can cause dizziness, blurred vision, and tiredness. Many causes.
Rebound: (E)
Pain when abdomen is pressed down on and then released. Sign of peritonitis.
Axial Loading: (E)
Application of weight or force along longitudinal axis of the body.
- Context: AL thumb of pt who fell on wrist
Ecchymosis: (E/D)
Bruise or contusion from damaged or leaking blood vessels under the skin.
Erythema: (E/D)
Patches of red skin resulting from dilation of capillaries caused by injury, infection, or irritation.
