Exam Final study Flashcards
What are the particle theories?
All matter is made out of tiny pieces called particles.
What happens to particles when heat is added?
Particles move faster , attractio between them decreses.
What happens to particles when heat is removed
Motion decreases, particles move closer together, attraction increases.
Physical properties of matter:
STATE, DULL, COBUR, CLARITY, TEXTURE, TRANSPARENT, ODOUR, LUSTER, OPAQUE, CONDUCTIVITY, TASTE, MALLEABILITY, VISCOSITY, FREEZING POINT, MAGNET…ETC.
Chemical properties of matter are:
Flammability, reactivity with water, reactivity with oxygen, reactivity with acid, reactivity with light.
What does quantitative mean and qualitative?
Quantitive is described with number units, Qualitative is described by the appearance
How do we know if a physical change occured?
When something changes its form or state, and no new substance is created.
how to determine if a chemical change occured:
new color, light or heat, bubbles or gas, precipitate, odour change
The triangle of density formula
M/D =V . D X V = M . D/M = V …ETC.
State the dwarf and outer and inner planets:
Jupiter- outer
pluto-dwarf
mars-inner
neptune-outter
venus-inner
What is a dwarf planet
A small planet which is missing certain technical citeria that is need for it to be classified as such.
Static electricity is due to..
friction
some materials gain electrons and end up with a…
negative
some materials lose electrons and end up with a..
positive
state the 3 laws of electric charges
Like charges REPEL
Opposite charges ATTRACT
Neutral objects are attracted to both charges
