What would we check for during a gait analysis?
- Inspect shoes for lateral, medial, or heel wear in order to assess heel strike, pronation, and supination.
- Have pt have shoes on and off
- Inspect posture from front (step width), side (pelvic tilt, leg length discrepancy), and back (pelvic drop).
How do you choose and base an AD for a pt?
By age, condition, coordination, stability vs mobility (walker higher stability but less mobility)
What is the typical distance between feet during ambulation?
6-10cm
A patient that vaults ( goes up on toes of stance leg) to clear the other leg so toes don’t drag exhibits what gate pattern?
