What is the definition of Sex?
A set of biological attributes, primarily associated with physical and physiological features (chromosomes, gene expression, hormone levels, reproductive/sexual anatomy).
What is Intersex?
A general term used for a variety of conditions in which a person is born with reproductive anatomy that doesn’t fit the typical definitions.
Define Gender.
The socially constructed roles, behaviors, expressions, and identities of girls, women, boys, men, and gender diverse people.
What does SOGIE stand for?

What is Sexual Orientation?
Refers to a person’s overall attraction to persons of the same and/or different sex.
Define Heterosexual (Straight).
A concept in which people are sexually or romantically attracted to people of the opposite sex.
What is Homosexuality?
Refers to attraction between people of the same sex, may be labeled as gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc.
What is Gender Identity?
One’s innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither.
Define Cisgender.
A gender identity society considers to match the biological sex assigned at birth.
What is Transgender?
Different from the sex assigned at birth.
What does Genderqueer refer to?
People who identify as between or neither male or female.
What is Expression in terms of gender?
External appearance of a person’s gender, expressed through behavior, clothing, haircut or voice, pronouns, mannerisms, interests, body features and body language.
Define Gender Roles.
How we’re expected to act, speak, dress, groom and conduct ourselves based on our assigned sex.
What is a Gender Stereotype?
A generalized view or preconception about attributes or characteristics, or the roles that are or ought to be possessed by, or performed by, women and men.
What is Sexism?
Unfair and unequal treatment because of their gender.
