What are the phrase types?
Noun= noun and description Verb= verb and modification Prep= prep followed by noun Adj= words describing a noun Adv= describing any adj, verb, clause or sentence
What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, adjective, another adverb, determiner, noun phrase, clause, or sentence. Eg kindly, slowly, almost, always, fast, calmly
What is an interjection?
Sudden remark eg. Wow! Oh! Woah!
Differences spoken and written
Writing is a secondary mode and speaking is primary. Speaking is innate, writing must be learnt
Formal and informal
Formal has no first person pronouns has no phrase verbs, has no contractions like don’t, can’t, no slang.
Additional Lang phrases
Pre production= 0-6 months
Early production= 6-12 months
Speech emergence= 1-3 years (simple sentence)
Intermediate fluency= 3-5 years (fewer grammatical errors)
Advanced fluency= 5-7 yrearsn (near fluent)
