1 in 50 adult Americans have participated in an anti-war demonstration (2%). Anti-war demonstrations became more acceptable during the Vietnam War era.
Prior to that, the numbers were extremely minuscule. Protesting or criticizing involvement in WWI or WWII could have easily led to the federal penitentiary.
Public assistance programs are far less costly than social insurance programs (social security and welfare). Public assistance is not the second most costly as many believe, but much further down on the list).

Social insurance programs attain much higher public support than public assistance programs, because they are self-financing.

Americans prefer that benefits be distributed primarily through the economic marketplace.
A market is any one of a variety of systems, institutions, procedures, social relations. and infrastructure whereby businesses sell their goods, services and labor to people in exchange for money (i.e. the private sector).
