Exam 4 Flashcards
NADPH
NADP+ + 2 e- and H+= NADPH
build macromolecules
NADH
NAD+ + 2 e- and H+= NADH
take apart macromolecules
Light reactions capture light energy
Take place in thylakoids
Use chlorophyll
Convert solar energy into chemical energy
Calvin Cycle (Dark Reactions)
Occur in the stroma
Use the energy produced in the light reactions
Synthesize sugar from CO2 and H2O
Light Reactions
Photosystem 2: water will be split into H+, O2, and electrons. These electrons will be what supplies the energy.
photosystem 1: the sun electrons move from P2 into the antenna complex of P1. Then they move into the ETC of P1 and during the ETC, NADPH will be created.
ATP synthase: last step in light reactions, enzymes that synthesizes ATP by using H+ from the splitting of water in P2.

Krebs cycle
Oxidative phosphorylation
Glycolysis
Breaking down glucose
Krebs cycle
Formation of energy carriers
Oxidative phosphorylation
Use oxygen to produce ATP
Similarities & Differences
PH. - chloroplast -plant cell CR -animal cell -mitochondria SAME -Create ATP

C-G
DNA Replication
Hydrogen bonds broken
Strands unwind and separate
Each strand is a template for the other
Result is two identical copies
DNA repair
Recognize
Remove
Replace
- Why is DNA replication semi conservative??
- It is semi conservative because it takes one old strand and one new strand to make up the double helix DNA strand, it happens for EACH original strand.
