Q

What are the three evolution-proof therapies?

Q

What are the effects of “1. don’t wipe out the competition”?

A
  • use no more selection than is absolutely necessary to cute the patient
  • the preserves clones of less resistant pathogens that compete and suppress the more resistant ones
  • this slows the evolution of resistance

Q

What are the advantages of phage therapy?

A
  • reduces the chance that good bacteria are killed
  • a small initial dose of phage will multiply as they infect bacteria, diminishing the need for repeated administrations
  • phage also mutate during replication, as do bacteria, producing new phages that recognize altered bacteria
