Hyperplasia
Increase in number of cells
Metaplasia
A change of one tissue type to another tissue type
Dysplasia
loss of normal architecture
Anaplasia
loss of structural differentiation
Desmoplasia
proliferation of connective tissues and cells with the tumor
Carcinoma
neoplasm of epithelial origin
Adenoma
neoplasm arising from glandular tissue
Papilloma
benign tumor of epithelia in which neoplastic cells grow outward like fingers
Teratoma
germ cell neoplasm made of several different differentiated cell/tissue types
Sarcoma
Neoplasm originating from muscles, nerves, connective tissue (mesenchymal tissues or derivatives)
Lymphoma
neoplasm of B/T cells (cells that populate lymph nodes), can be liquid or solid
Leukemia
neoplasm of white blood cells, always liquid
Blastoma
malignancy in precursor cells, more common in children. Eg nephroblastoma, retinoblastoma
Melanoma
cancer in pigment producing cells
