what is the romberg test?

A

stand with feet together and arms at side. have them close eyes and hold for 20 seconds (normally person can balance without visual info)

ask person to perform shallow knee bends or hop in place on one leg (demonstrations normal position sense and cerebellar functioning)

A

raising leg while keeping leg extended normally does not produce pain. if it produced pain it can indicate a herniated nucleus pulposus (between vertebrae)
