Diffusion: culture change due to contact and borrowing, no onehas to get hurt Stimulus diffusion: you borrow idea, but change the form it is presented in, no serious consequences Acculturation: directed, forced culture change, extremely ethnocentric and has three end results 1) extinction 2) assimilation - people still there, but their original culture is not 3) cultural pluralism: coexistence between two cultures For external mechanism there muse be: A dominant culture, contact setting that is continuous, contact has to be face to face
