Exam 3 Flashcards
release histamine & other molecules involved in inflammation (bone marrow and blood)
Basophils
kill antibody-coated parasites (bone marrow and blood)
Eosinophils
stimulate inflammation, kill invaders via phagocytosis (bone marrow and blood), PHAGOCYTES
Neutrophils
release histamine— constricts blood flow from wound and increase blood flow to wound (tissues), PHAGOCYTES
Mast Cells
dev into macrophages & dendritic cells (blood and lymph), PHAGOCYTES
Monocytes
antigen presentation (tissues & lymph), PHAGOCYTES
Macrophages
present antigen to T cells (tissues and lymph), PHAGOCYTES
Dendritic cells
differentiate to form antibody producing cells and memory cells (bone marrow and lymph)
B Lymphocyte
kill pathogen infected cells, regulate activity of other white blood cells (thymus and lymph)
T Lymphocyte
attack and lyse virus infected/ cancerous blood cells (lymph nodes and tissues), LYMPHOCYTES
Natural Killer Cells
80% of circulating antibodies, in blood plasma, most abundant, fetus immunity, Can bind & opsonize (tag) microbes in blood & tissue fluids
IgG
surface of B cells-blood plasma, first class of antibodies release-B cells- primary response
IgM
saliva/tears/breast milk/bodily secretions, protects mucosal surfaces & epithelial cells
IgA
surface of B cell, cell surface receptor of B cells, important for b cell activation
IgD
inflammation & allergic response
IgE
