A

Original sin is the Christian concept to explain why there is bad in the world and why people do harmful things. Although sin originates due to God letting people have free will to do what they want without interference which is why people do harmful things. It is through those acts that are harmful that create sin in the world and when someone is born into the world they encounter and become affected by the original sin themselves.

The story of Adam and Eve should be seen for what it is, an etiological myth meaning that it never actually happened. However, it is a story that was created to help Christians understand why the world has suffering and sin in it.
