Exam 2 Flashcards
T-test
Tests if 2 groups are different by checking the difference between means.
Results in finding the standard error, means and a p-value.
Compares one categorical and one continuous value.
Null hypothesis is no difference.
Linear Regression
Tests if 2 things are related.
Results in an R-squared value, slope of the best fit line and a p-value.
Compares two continuous variables.
Null hypothesis is not related. (slope of zero)
“Percent variation in y is explained by variation in x.”
“Percent if null is true of slope at least this far from 0.”
Chi-Squared
Tests if there is a difference between the observed and expected results.
Results in a p-value and frequencies.
Compares two categorical variables.
Null hypothesis is no difference.
