the differences in views between Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois
Washington - the most realistic course was to accept the form of separatism and segregation, wanted black people to accept segregation
Dubois - argued for the complete incorporation into all areas of society and advocated militant resistance to white tyranny, wanted black people to be fully accepted into society
the slave codes (what they did and their impacts on slaves)
Slaves did not benefit from this system as it did not see them as people as they:

- could not own property
- could not testify in court
- could not make contracts
