Exam 1 Part 4 Flashcards
The degree of confidence that an individual is a true negative, or does not have the disorder if identified as not having the disorder.
Negative likelihood ratio
The probability that an individual with a positive test result has the disorder, or the probability that an individual is a true positive.
Positive predictive value
The probability that an individual with a negative test result does not have the disorder, or is a true negative.
Negative predictive value
Can be used to compare the scores of an individual child to those of age-matched and/or
grade-matched peers
Norm-referenced
Why is it not recommended to use age-equivalent scores?
Does not represent normal variation; only means that the child earned the median (middle value in list of numbers) score of children that age earned
A method of evaluation that is more individualized than
traditional static assessment
Dynamic assessment
During dynamic assessment a child is taught strategies and the clinician observes the child’s modifiability
Mediated learning experience
Refers to explicitly telling the child
the target and the reason for the MLE.
Intentionality
Takes ideas beyond the immediate task, and introduces abstract ideas.
Transcendence
Helping the child develop a plan and recognize how and when to use particular strategies.
