Can take 2 to 4 months to work, use contraceptives because the drug will cause birth defects, don’t take live vaccines, avoid large crowds, and take with folic acid
What are the side effects of hydroxychloroquine?
Visual changes and photosensitivity
What patient education should you give for hydroxychloroquine?
Visit eye doctor to determine baseline before taking medication and recheck every 6 months to ensure the medication is not damaging eye site, don’t take live vaccines, use contraceptives
What are the side effects of leflunomid?
Thrombocytopenia, chest pain, palpitations, ENT problems, dry eyes, hepatatoxic,
What education do you give for leflunomide?
Screen for TB??, use condoms when fucking, may take 4 to 6 weeks to work and up to 3 months to

Injection site reactions and increase risk of infection
What patient ed should you give for etanercept?
Give sub cu and withhold medical if fever or infection occurs
What are the side effects of infliximab?
Bradycardia, injection site reaction, increased risk of infection
What med education should you give for infliximab?
Must be refrigerated and withhold if fever/infection occurs
What are the side effects of adalimumab?
Cardiac issues, gi bleed, hepatoxicity, bronchospasms, and injection site reaction
What is hydrocortisone/prednisone used to treat?
MS, RA, Lupus
What are the side effects of hydrocortisone/prednisone?
Fractures, GI upset, insomnia, adrenal insufficiency, joint damage, electrolyte imbalance, increased risk of infection
What education do you give for corticosteroids?
Take with food, check glucose, avoid large crowds
What is ibuprofen treat?
MS/RA
What are the side effects of MS/RA
Renal insufficiency, GI adverse effects, thrombocytopenia,

Administer with food, signs of bleeding, and urinary issues
What medications are considered opioids?
Butorphanol, Morphine, and Fentanyl
If a patient is having an overdose on an opioid what antidote should be given?
Naloxone
What should be monitored when giving opioid medications?
RR, HR, BP, bowel movements
How long does naloxone work?
The drug works for for 30 minutes to 2 hours…any pain medication given in that window will have no effect on pain suppression
What are the benzodiazepine medications?
Diazepam and midazolam

Dry mouth, nervousness, DECREASED BLOOD PRESSURE
