Sx of AFib?
ASx, palpitations w/rapid RD, dizzy, syncope, SOB, DOE, CP, fatigue
Dx for AFib?
EKG, ECHO (look for valve dz), TSH
What test/score for anticoagulation in AFib?
CHADS2-VASc. More than 2=long-term anticoagulation w/Warfarin
When to urgent DC Cardiovert AFib?
Active Ischemia, unstable hemodynamics, organ hypoperfusion, pulm edema, WPW
When to non-urgent DC Cardiovert AFib?
New Afib with limiting Sx
What age don’t cardiovert AFib?
80+
If planning on DC Cardiovertion AFib what need to do?
Heparin and rate contorl for 48h to prevent thrombus. OR echo to check for atrial thrombus
How to slow rate in AFib?
Beta Blocker or CCB. Equal choices.
