phonological characteristics of dld

A
  • delay in phonological acquisition
  • vocalize less than same age peers
  • difficulty learning the speech sound system, may ot be able to repeat words
  • limited phonological awareness (rhyming, syllable segmentation, segmenting phonemes, recognizing. first and last soudn in a word, substituting phonemes, manipulating phonemes in a word–these all help with acquiring reading)
