A

It has helped improve the legal system and how trails are done - thus reducing mistrials

What is a limitation of research into Misleading Info?

A

Research is done using artificial tasks - so doesn’t tell us how leading questions impact real EWTs as there are other factors that contribute to its accuracy like trauma

A

Rhodes - age impacts memory and recall and there is a thing known as ‘Own Age Bias’

Own Age Bias - where the accuracy of identification is greater as you’re more likely to remember someone that looks a similar age to you

A

Pickel - conducted a study with a range of weapons and found that recall was worse in the high unusualness condition (e.g. handgun)

What is a weakness of the research into the effects of anxiety on EWT?

A

They are Field Experiments - lack control and there may be extraneous variables that may have influenced the findings, plus its harder to replicate them especially Yuille and Cutshall’s research since it was based on real events

A

The ppts were deceived in Johnson and Scotts research and it may have cause them psychological harm due to witnessing a ‘crime’
