what is natural selection?
the process where certain traits and characteristics that allowed for survival are genetically passed down overtime
what is survival of the fittest?
where certain traits that help an organism survive are passed on, while traits that don’t aid survival die out as organisms will not survive to reproduce
what is sexual selection?
the process where individuals compete for access to mates and fertilization opportunities
what are heritable traits?
traits that are passed down from parent to offspring
what is a survival trait?
behavioural or physical characteristics that help and animal to survive and reproduce
what is an adaptation?
the ability of living organisms to adjust themselves to their surroundings
what is a mutation?
a change in the DNA sequence of an organism
