Q
What was Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution?
A
The theory of Natural Selection (the right one- used today)
2
Q
What is the idea of Natural Selection?
A
- Individuals in species show variation because of differences in their genes.
- Individuals with certain characteristics make them better adapted to their environment.
- Those better adapted will survive and reproduce so their genes are passed on to the next generation

What was John-Baptiste Lamarck’s theory?
A
- If a characteristic was used a lot by an organism then it would be become more developed during its lifetime (acquired characteristics)
- These acquired characteristics would be passed on to their offspring
- E.g. If a man was a body builder and was really muscly after loads of weight training, his child would be just as muscly.
