Miohippus, 30-25 mya, three toes each foot, some had teeth for forest grazing others grass, longer legs with bones fusing allowing for faster running
Horse 4
Merychippus, 15-5 mya, size of modern pony, grass-grazers, side toe of varying sizes, horse-like hoof on center toe and bones fused even more
Horse 5
Equus, 4 mya - today, large grass-grazers with a straight spine, long legs with fused bones, single hooves, diversified into several species
