How do we convert intelligence into admissible evidence?
Information:
- Source that needs no confidentiality constrains or protection
- Overt
Inteligence:
- Derived from multiple sources
- Needs to be recorded, garden,and evaluated
Evidence:
- Information
- Admissible in court
- Abides by the rules evidence

Intelligence that is sustained and can be included in court proceedings
Can be corroborative
Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS)
- Informants
- Covered by RIPA 2000
- Need a handler
CHIS issues
Ethical/ moral issues: If they witness someone break the law they cannot blow their cover
Safety: Risk to life
Reliability: Informants can be untrustworthy
Motivation: Can take a long time (e.g. organised crimes)
Assisting prosecution legislation: Serious and Organised Crime and Police act 2005
