A

> began as soon as war was declared

> was never enforced by the government but was highly encouraged

> Women and children were evacuated for morale reasons- if they died would lower morale

> evacuation mostly from likely armed forces and industrial areas such as London and Birmingham to less likely countryside

> some left the country for Canada and America
