Eukayotic cells Flashcards
What to know
membrane-bound nucleus and organelles
- Linear chromos
- Large
- Can be unicellular ( yeast)
EG
- Plant cells
- Animal cells
- Protists cells
- Fungal cells
Whta is Protista
Protista is a kingdom of simple, mostly single-celled eukaryotic organisms that are not plants, animals, or fungi. Examples include algae, amoebas, and paramecia.
- single-celled ( mostly)
How do they move
with Cilia ( small hairs), Flagella ( tail) or pseudopodia ( false feet)
Algae
- Move using Flagella
- autotroph ( chloroplasts)
Types of protists
Algae
Amoebas
Paramecia
Amoebas
- Move using pseudopodia
- heterotroph
Paramecia
- move using Cilia
- heterotroph
Unique Characteristics and What They Do
Eye spot = Can detect and respond to the environment ( light sensitive)
Obtain nutrients and grow ( some are autotrophs)
Specialised Membrane-bound Organelles. Eg. nucleus and food Vacuols
