EUKARYOTIC CELLS Flashcards
What are bacterial cell wall made up of?
Peptidoglycan
What are fungal cell wall made up of?
Chitin/ f. Cellulose (polymer of NAG)
What are algal cell wall made up of?
Cellulose+ galactans+ mannans+ minerals (like CaCO3)
HEMICELLULOSE ARE NOT FOUND.
What are the structural component of typical cell wall?
- Microfibrill (made of cellulose)
- Matrix (made of pectin, hemicellulose, water and protein)
- Deposition (lignin, cutin, suberin and silica)
What are the parts of cell wall?
Middle lamella, primary cell wall , secondary cell wall, tertiary cell wall (sometimes) and plasma membrane.
Which is the first form the layer of cell wall during cell division?
Middle lamela. Formed by phragmoplast.
What is middle lamela made up of?
It is mainly made up of calcium pectate. Magnesium pectate is also present.
What is middle lamela?
It is the thin, amorphous, common cementing layer between 2 adjacent plants cell.
What are the constituents of primary cell wall?
They have cellulose, hemi-cellulose, pectin .
Where are primary cell wall present?
Primary cell wall are present in all meristematic and parenchymous cells.
What happens to the primary cell wall when cell matures?
The primary cell wall shows thinning and may completely diminish as well.
Where are secondary cell wall present?
They are present in mature or differentiated cell.
What type of depositions are present in secondary cell wall?
It shows the position of lignin, cutin siberin and silica as well.
What is the structure of primary cell wall?
They are thin, elastic and hence can expand or grow.
What is the structure of secondary cell wall?
They are thick and rigid.
