Eukaryotic And Prokatyotic Cells Flashcards
Eukarotic cells
These are animal and plants cells (as an example), they contain all the features such as a nucleus with genetic material, a cell membrane and ribosomes
Prokaryotic Cells
These cells (unlike eukaryotic) don’t contain a nucleus however the gentic material is still present inside the cell, it’s just loose. An example of a prokaryotic cell (who have different features to eukaryotic) is bacteria.
Slime Capsule (only in Prokayotic)
Slime capsules protect the cell (a third layer besides the cell wall and membrane) and stops the bacteria or other things from drying out.
Flagella (Only Prokaryotic)
Flagella act as sensory organs for the cell and help it find its way aeound. They are mainly used for cell movement.
Plasmids (only Prokaryotic)
Plasmids act as denfense and may contain genes that enhance the survival of the organism. They do this by sometimes killing other organisms and/or defending their cell.
Genetic material (Both however it is loose inside Prokaryotic)
Genetic material contains the instructions for the cells survival
