Animal And Plant Cells Flashcards
Cytoplasm (Just animal cell)
The cytoplasm is where the chemical reactions take place in the cell. It is a jelly like substance
Cell membran (plant and animal cells)
The cell membrance protecte the cell and provides a fixed environment inside of it. It surrounds the cell.
Mitochondria (plant and animal cells)
Mitochondria is where most of the respiration reactions happen in the cell. They generate most of the chemical energy needed for the cells reactions.
Ribosomes (Plant and animal cells)
Ribosomes produce the protein needed for the cells upkeep and contain RNA.
Nucleus (Plant and animal cells)
The nucleus contains the cells genetic material that controls and instructs the cell and its activities. The genetic material is also known as DNA
Cell Wall (Just plant cells)
The cell wall provides structural support for the cell and a second layer of protection (along with the membrane).
Chloroplasts (Just Plant cells)
Chloroplasts convert light energy into chemical energy via photosynthesis.
Vacuole (Just plant cells)
The Vacuole helps maintain the water palance within the cell
Algae (Seperate)
Algae are fairly similar to plant cells as they make their own food by photosynthesis but are instead classified as Protisa.
