Eukaryotes regulation Flashcards
How is it controlled?
capping of 5’ end mRNA, protects mRNA from degradation, ribosome can recognise mRNA.
Splicing
3’ gets phosphorylated, cleaved near end of gene. Important for transport and transcription.
What do activators or repressor proteins bind to DNA?
regulatory element proteins
core promoter?
Basal T machinery
What binds to promoter?
Activator or repressor bind to promoter region, just before Basal machinery
What makes up the basal machinery?
Transcription factors are RNA2
What combinations can repressors and activators be?
homodimer or heterodimer
What is SRE in plants?
A regulatory sequence for stress, needed for proteins in response to draught
What is needed first in a plant stress response?
The stressor (draught), activates transcription of regulatory protein, The RP binds to SRE= TRANSCRIPTION
What does cooperation mean?
different genes regulated by the same regulatory sequence and bind the same TF.
