What part of the GDC talks about confidentiality
GDC
4.2 protect the confidentiality of patients information and usually information and only use it for the purpose for which it was given
In what cases can you lawfully disclose patient information
- when patients give their consent
- when it is a requirement by law (eg court order)
- when there is a compelling public interest
In a situation that patient records are on display in a dental practise what considerations are there are
1) proper apology required, ideally in person and in writing
2) investigate details of what happened and how
3) offer a meeting with the patients to discuss
4) conduct any staff training required and review the records- keeping system to prevent recurrence
5) inform the patient of the steps being taken
6) security of patient is a legal requirement from the data protection act 2018

Make and keep contemporaneous, complete and accurate patient records
