There are moral facts in the same way there are scientific facts (any moral situation can be true or false)
Grounding problem
The search for a foundation for moral beliefs, something solid that would make them true
Moral antirealism
No moral facts, moral propositions are not objective
Moral absolutism
There are absolute standards against which moral standards can be judged
Moral relativism
More than one moral position on a topic can be correct
Cultural relativism
Peoples moral beliefs differ from culture to culture
Normative cultural relativism
Not the beliefs that differ from culture to culture, but the actual moral facts
Moral subjectivism
Moral can be true or false, but the refer to people’s attitudes not their actions
Ethical theories
Moral foundations that help you come up with consistent answers about right and wrong
Natural law theory
Relies on the starting assumption that God created the universe according to a well ordered plan
Utilitarianism
Relies on the starting assumption that all living beings desire to seek pleasure and avoid pain
