is the act right or wrong in itself (eg the patients right to refuse treatment)
do what you think is right (remember by; DENtists think theyre right)
consequentialism definition
whether an action is right or wrong depending on the consequences
does the end result justify the means
utilitarianism definition and example
acting to maximise the greatest happiness in the greatest number of people (eg triaging)
communitarianism/community ethics definition and example
is the act good for everyone that will be affected by the act (eg vaccination programme)

respect for autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice
respect for autonomy definition
respect for a persons free will and capacity of independent decision making
beneficence definition
balance of benefits against the risk and the costs for that specific person
acting in the best interest of the person
non-maleficence definition
do no harm
remember bc NOn-maleficence = do NO harm
justice
fair distribution of benefits, risks, costs, social justice etc
treat patients equally
virtue theory (virtue ethics)
good person doing good things
“am I being honest to myself and consistent in my acts?” Professionalism and moral character matter most
