A level of conduct or morals that should b met
Free software
Software that we have the freedom to run share, copy and change
Freeware
A copy of software given to a person free of charge that cannot be changed or redistributed due to copyright
Shareware
A free trial or limited version of software
Plagiarism
Stealing the work of another without making reference to the source where it was obtained
Copyright
Legally protecting work to give the sole right to distribute work, often with payment.
Hacked
Access gained to a system unlawfully by breaking through security methods
Cracked
Access gained to a system, software or website with the purpose of changing or defacing it
Malware
A computer program designed to disrupt or damage a computer system
Define computer ethics
Refers to acts using a computer in a rightful or wrongful manner. There is not an agreed set of ethics as what one person thinks is right another may think is wrong
Why are ethics necessary when using computers
Because the use of computers need to be governed to control how they are used for our safety
To stop the misuse of computers when communicating
To stop the theft of other people’s work or details using the internet
If a company gave you a free version of their software and encouraged to try and improve it and share it with the online community, what kind of software would it be
Would be free software
Explain how malware can be distributed using electronic communications
Often disguised as an attatchement on a email
When a user downloads the link the malware is installed on the computer without their knowledge
