What is euthanasia?
Killing someone painlessly and with compassion to end their suffering.
What is active euthanasia?
Active euthanasia is when someone actively does something to help someone to end their own life when they are unable to do it themselves.
What is passive euthanasia?
Passive euthanasia is when a doctor withholds medical treatments and necessitates from a patient because they aren’t going to get better, in order to kill them quicker.
Who is Tony bland?
An 18 year old boy who was crushed at the Liverpool match in 1989. He was in a coma but had no possibility to recover. It was costing around £2000 a day to keep him alive and his family wanted him to die. He lived for 9 days after being taken of life support and ultimately starved to death.
What is abortion?
Abortion is the removal of a foetus from a womb to end a pregnancy.
What is the last chance to get an abortion in the uk?
24 weeks.
In what circumstances are abortions allowed?
-if the birth or pregnancy poses a risk to the mental or physical well being of the mother or the existing children.
-if the child will be handicapped at birth.
The 24 week rule can be ignored when…
There is a serious risk to the mother’s health or the baby will be seriously handicapped.
What is pro-choice?
Women should be able to choose what to do with their own body.
What is pro-life?
Babies that are unborn deserve the same rights as adults, abortion is wrong.

-sanctity of life: every life is important.
-you shouldn’t ’play God’: you shouldn’t decide whether someone lives or not.
-‘I knit you in your mother’s womb’: God makes us perfectly.
