1.Conflicting values:

challenging.
2. No clear right answer:
There’s often no definitive “right” or “wrong” choice, leading to moral
uncertainty.
3. Significant consequences:
The decision can lead to important outcomes for the individual or others
involved.
What is Deontology
Deontology is an ethical
theory that emphasizes the
importance of following moral
rules and duties.
What are the 4 biomedical ethical principles?
Non- Maleficence: to not cause harm
Beneficence: promote the well-being of others, benefit to the patient
Respect for autonomy: right of a competent adult to make informed decisions including to refuse treatment
Justice: Fairness distribute health care resources and have the same respect to all patients.
What are the issues with applying the 4 biomedical ethical principles?
Determining which principles apply in
the case because every principle does
not apply in every circumstance.
Weighing the different principles
especially when the principles conflict.
