Beneficence

A

Moral and legal duty of a physician to promote actions that are in the best interest of the patient. Assessing how likely each treatment option is to resolve the medical problem and whether it is in line with patients circumstances and beliefs, even if it is the most medically efficient.

A

Duty of all physicians to cause no harm to their patients or allow any harm to be caused through neglect

Autonomy

A

The right of the patients to make decisions regarding their treatment. While healthcare professionals have the right to propose treatment, the patient has the right to deny it. Not all patients have antonym to consent (could be lacking mental capacity or deemed not competent as below the age of 16)
