Explain “Informed Consent”
The right for participants to be fully aware of the experiment before agreeing to take part
Explain “Right to Withdraw”
The right for participants to withdraw themselves and any data they have provided at any time during the experiment without questions.
Explain “Deception”
Lying to participants in two ways:
- Active deception (deliberately lying)
- Passive deception (omitting details)
Participants should be fully debriefed after the experiment where deception has occurred, and they have the right to withdraw their data if they wish to.
Explain “Protection from Harm”
The right for participants to not experience any physical or psychological harm
Explain “Privacy and Confidentiality”
The right for participants to not have their private lives or data exposed in research
