Ethics Flashcards
Ethical
A sense of eight or wrong in producing or obtaining the technology, based on moral beliefs
Social
The influence of technology on society, rather than just one or two individuals
Economic
The availability of funds to obtain or produce the technology
Biological
The effect of a technology on other living organisms in a particular environment
What are the energy forms most important to life on earth? (3)
- Sunlight
- Chemical energy stored in food
- Heat
These are turned into usable forms of energy for cells and organisms
What is Autotroph?
Autotroph :
- One of two useable form of energy
- Captures and uses light energy to convert water and carbon dioxide ( inorganic) into glucose (organic). —> this process is photosynthesis
- They then use the organic compounds they make for their structural and energy needs, like growing and reproducing
What is heterotroph ?
- Convert energy stored in organic materials into energy that is stored in ATP (adenosine triphosphate ) —> this process is called cellular respiration
Purpose of photosynthesis
- Photosynthesis is an anabolic chemical react in which the Sun’s light energy is used to convert the inorganic compounds carbon dioxide and water into the organic compound
- Glucose can then be used as a source of energy by cells, enabling growth and reproduction.
- Any excess glucose can be stored by plant cells in the form of starch, for later use
Overview of photosynthesis
- Begins with the absorption of light energy by chlorophyll, found in chloroplasts
The overall reaction
: 6CO2
