- Ethics can be defined as ‘the consideration of what is acceptable or right behaviour in the pursuit of a personal or scientific goal’ (Caldwell, 2000)

What is informed consent?
A
- Knowing aims and giving your permission to take part in the study.

What is deception?
A
- Deliberately misleading or withholding information.

What is right to withdraw?
A
- Being able to leave the study/experiment when desired.

What is confidentiality?
A
- Details should be kept private.
- Protection of ppts -> no more harm than daily life (Glass and Singer, 1972).

What is debriefing?
A
- Returning the ppt to the state they were in before the research.
