Informed Consent
Participants must know the true aim in order to give IC , if using children, parent must give consent.
Avoiding Deception, deception includes
> Not obtaining informed consent
Not telling participants the true aim
Not telling participants how the results will be used
Giving the Right to Withdraw
Participants must be reminded that they can leave the study at any point and have their data destroyed, they should be periodically asked if they want to continue
Debriefing Participants
Participants must be briefed at the start of the study and a debrief should take place also, especially if informed consent is not obtained. The debrief should explain what results are expected .
Being Competent to run the Study, Competence includes:
Understanding the implications of the study, knowing the ethical guidelines, getting advice an area where the researcher doesn’t feel confident, being qualified, adhering to safe practice
