What is protection of participants?
Participants, whether human or animal, must be subjected to no or minimal harm (physical or) psychological.
What is informed consent?
Participants must freely consent to participate on the basis of full information about the aim and nature of the research.
What is voluntary participation?
Participant involvement must be entirely voluntary – his/her own choice.
What is confidentiality and anonymity?
Identity of participants to be concealed – no names or identifying features
What is the right to withdraw?
All participants have the right to withdraw from a study at any time, without explanation.
What is accurate reporting and debriefing?
Researchers have a duty to publish findings accurately and provide participants with support services.
