Q

First Paragraph

A

Protection from harm.

Anaesthetic should be used.

Some may argue that Brady 1958 caused unnecessary harm to animals. He didn’t protect monkeys from harm.

One way of dealing with this issue is to look at alternative methods e.g. PostMortem.

Second paragraph

A

Broadbent (1961) tried to justify animal research by stating two reasons.

  1. Continuity of evolution: using Darwin’s theory advanced that humans and animals are closely related.
  2. Using animals means less ethical issues. E.g. Can’t cause a human stress to see the effects. Peter singer 1975 argued it was speciesism.
