Why were ethical guidelines introduced?
To protect those involved in the research.
What does it mean for something to be socially sensitive?
A study where there are potential implications, either directly for participants or for the class of individuals represented by the research.
Why do psychologists undertake socially sensitive research?
Because the areas are still a significant part of psychology and society so therefore they should be studied the same way.

The 1920’s America enacted the legalisation of compulsory sterilisation of the ‘feeble-minded’, (low IQ, drug addicts, alcoholics and mentally ill). Adopting the idea that they were ‘unfit’ to breed.
