Choose 1 of the 7 major themes of the novel and explain how it is developed throughout the novel
Poverty is a reoccurring theme in Ethan Frome. The reason why Zeena came to the Frome farm was because of Ethan's sick mother. Due to his mother being sick, he was in poverty. Then, when Mattie comes she's in poverty from her father. Because Ethan didn't go to college when he should've, he's been in poverty ever since. Poverty seems to run throughout the farm.
