  • ‘basic package’ → can include any species, anywhere in Europe
  • elected studbook keeper → responsible for collecting data on captive populations of their specific species (e.e. births, deaths, transfers)
  • collections can ask studbook keeper for breeding / transfer recommendations
  • data used to judge if species is doing well in European zoos → may recommend ‘upgrading’ to EEP
