Q

Ow are corries formed?

A

1) Snow accumulates
2) The snow becomes glacial ice
3) Some of it starts to flow to lower levels
4) Ice becomes frozen to the back wall of the hollow ad plucking occurs as the ice moves downhill
5) This makes the back wall steeper
6) Freeze thaw weathering takes place at the top of the slope producing scree
7) The hollow deepens where the ice is thickest due to abrasion
8) There is less erosion at the front and a rock lip forms here
9) When all the ice has melted a tarn (lake) forms
