Define erosion.
A
The removal of material and it being carried away. The shaping of a landform.

Define abrasion.
A
This is the ‘sandpapering’ effect of pebbles grinding over a rocky platform often causing it to become smooth.

Define solution.
A
When the water dissolves certain types of rocks through soluble chemicals, e.g. limestone.

Define hydraulic action.
A
When waves smash against cliffs. Trapped air is forced into holes and cracks in the rock eventually causing the rock to break apart.

Define attrition.
A
Rock fragments carried by the sea knock against one another causing them to become smaller and more rounded.
