Equipment Troubleshooting Flashcards

Q

How do you perform a bucket test?

A

First, fill a bucket with pool water. Place this bucket on the second step into the pool. The goal is to have the top of the bucket be above the pool water line. Level out the water so the level inside the bucket, is the same as the outside. Mark this line on the outside and inside with a permanent marker. Turn off the pool pump and if you have one, the autofill. Let the bucket remain for 24 hours undisturbed. If after 24 hours the pool has dropped further than the bucket level, there may be a leak in the shell or liner. If they remained even, there is either a leak in the plumbing or no leak at all.
